I was an O.S. On the Lockwood From 77-79. Then went to Europe and was on the DDG 18 and got out in 81. The longest day of my life was on the Lockwood when we crossed the equator. It was Brutal!!

Great serving on the Lockwood, shout out to all my friends. And especially to QM2 Ball, and to my wise LPO MS1 Charles.

MS2 Randy Stanley, Served 87-88. Shout Out To My Buddy Qm2 Kieth Ball, Miss You Kieth, Had Some Great Times Cooking On The Lockwood. God Bless!

These two clowns Douglas Jones and Arther Coley are both full of BS and are both clueless as to the facts. I don’t even remember them being on the ship. Commander Warren P. Hudson was 100% at fault and was stricken from his command based mostly on my testimony at his navy trial. I was the first witness and it was determined that he was completely to blame for the collision. CO Hudson came up from his quarters with no night vision and ordered full left rudder almost as soon as he arrived. WEPS had nothing to do with it. I was one of two intelligence photographers and was an Operations Specialist so I was trained to see and know facts. I was on the bridge when it all happened right next to the coffee maker so I was covered in hot coffee from the collision. The CO was standing right next to me when he made his fateful order that caused the crash.

DOUGLAS JONES….You are full of it and have no idea what happened that night. Warren P. Hudson came onto the bridge and took control which is what almost always happens. He ordered full left rudder without looking at the status boards and only went by looking out of the forward facing windows without having his night vision since he had just left his quarters that had lights on. Funny that you claim that I had no idea even though I was the first and main witness at the inquiry that put Hudson behind a desk. I was an Operations Specialist and my job was to always know what the ship was doing. I was also one of two Intelligence Photographers on the ship. You obviously have no knowledge as to what happened that night. Oh, and learn to not comment in CAPS!

Loved this ship—home for three years. Still have some friends that are still around and some that have past. Great times…last years on the steam navy.

Hi all who read this its been years hopefully all are doing great in life by now.
No matter the year you read this I need your help.
Update the back injury I sustained in the ship collision left me after a few years of being discharged 100% disabled .I was on light duty till 1988 date of service release.after I could not hold a job as a civilian my back would lock up.I have been living in extreme pain till present and now enjoy getting around in a wheelchair all to often.
The VA can not locate my medical records. I don’t have a way to obtain deck logs or SETREP BLUE NAVY 3 REPORTS OR ANYTHING THAT HAS MY NAME WITH INJURY.
I need help in this just so I can get treatment as all medical insurance don’t cover preexisting conditions or disease.
Thank you
Anyone who can locate Alfonso Miciano. Our chief HM at time.
Last known cmd sealift retired wrks contract for gov.Antartica
Lives virginia beach Virginia. Please contact him or send me his email.phone whatever you can send me .Thanks for your time.

Let me start by saying what’s up Kenny, I have thought about you often after the incident in Shawn’s bar. Lori passed May 2017
I was BMOW during sea & anchor detail that night and the captain only saw one white light and thought he was looking at the ships stern. My fwd lookout told him that the ship was heading towards us sent me to confirm what my lookout saw and he still didn’t believe us. My 1st wife was killed in Connecticut 60 days prior then the collision my mind went blank for the last 30 years. I was talking to Bogle a couple of years ago and that jogged my memory and for the last 15 months have been going through therapy for ptsd and anxiety. Thank You James as now I’m getting help.

Hi all .Just saw all this tonight june 2017 .I hope someone are many can help me or guide me to what I need.
I was in the bow of the ship when the collision happened standing on the platform to release the anchor had few seconds to brace when warning to brace for shock.on the platform there is nothing to brace for shock and i was thrown into a storage kleet for the spare docking ropes.i could not walk on my own and was helped back by 2 fellow ship mates to my gq station in aft of ship watching on my back all doing there best to do there jobs.
Anyways i was placed on light duty for the rest of my service onboard the Lockwood and my injury never went away and for over 28 yrs ive been 100% disabled with limited mobility living with extreme pain .taking strong meds to try to function .
Now here is what I need since the VA states no medical records before 1987 can be found.they want buddy letters stating that you know me and about my injury.also Chief Miciano Alfonso was the chief coreman.he retired last year.SMC out of West Virginia who has not yet replied to my need of help if any can write or call him on my behalf and send my email that would be very helpful ja_bogle@yahoo.com. also not sure but if medical records onboard USS Lockwood are kept pls tell me how to obtain.
And all matter on the collision like paper articles , ship logs else that contain names of injured and or injuries pls send them.ty best regaurds to all i live in Philippines due to my back injury so its an interesting life.
