Years Served: 1955 – 1956…I came aboard Hyman right out of YN A school. I was Commodore’s Yeoman, COMDESDIV 122. Made a Med cruise and a refit cruise to Cuba during that first year. I wanted to see the world, and I did! Transferred to COMDESRON 12 staff at start of l957. Bob Ecklund, Engineering Yeoman, lives in New Jersey, Frank Franchi lives in Washington State, and believe it or not, Cody in Ship’s Office became a priest! I know, I found it hard to believe too. I live in California. Made the Navy my career and retired in l974.

Years Served: 1946-47…Boarded the great ship in 1946. Served until 1948 when transferred to the Purdy-734.(They needed a gunners mate) I attended the reunion in Lancaster and had a great time. Found several shipmates who went through boot at Bainbridge…we had a fine visit swapping sea stories. It was great to see the plank owners. Would welcome contact by other shipmates that served aboard during that era.
