Served from aug 55 to feb 58. Med cruise to Suez canal to persian gulf around africa great cruise

Was aboard in1956 and 1957. Rate FT3

My Grandpa John Pleger served on the USS Soley I. The early 50’s. He helped get it out of mothballs in Norfolk.

My father served on the USS Soley from 1955-1959. His name was Arvile Jones does anyone remember him he passed away on 8-31-77 at only 41 yrs of age would love to hear from anyone that knew him

would like to hear from shipmates i served with it was a great ship with a great crew.

I painted a dragon on a rubber mat in the boiler room.

Like the Canberra, the Walnut Line, liberty in Old San Juan, Coco Solo and the ships that came through the canal, sailing with the Enterprise group behind Jamaica: stuff like that. Years Served: 1961- 1963…I BOARDED THE SOLEY SEPTEMBER 8 1961 UNTIL APRIL 1963 . I WAS WITH IST DIVISION POWELL WAS DIV. PO . MADE A MED. CRUISE . WAS IN CUBAN MISSLE BLOCKADE.WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OLD SHIP MATES.I HAVE A MED CRUISE BOOK 1961- 1962.
