My father served on the USS Soley from 1955-1959. His name was Arvile Jones does anyone remember him he passed away on 8-31-77 at only 41 yrs of age would love to hear from anyone that knew him

would like to hear from shipmates i served with it was a great ship with a great crew.

I painted a dragon on a rubber mat in the boiler room.

Years Served: 1960-1962…Anybody remember much about what we did during the Cuban Missile Crisis? Let’s get some dialogue going. Jog your memories! Like the Canberra, the Walnut Line, liberty in Old San Juan, Coco Solo and the ships that came through the canal, sailing with the Enterprise group behind Jamaica: stuff like that. Let’s get some memories down before old age catches up to us!

Years Served: 1961- 1963…I BOARDED THE SOLEY SEPTEMBER 8 1961 UNTIL APRIL 1963 . I WAS WITH IST DIVISION POWELL WAS DIV. PO . MADE A MED. CRUISE . WAS IN CUBAN MISSLE BLOCKADE.WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OLD SHIP MATES.I HAVE A MED CRUISE BOOK 1961- 1962.

Years Served: Onboard Soley 1960-61 Navy Service 1959-1988…Assigned to the A gang as an ENFN. Departed Soley in the Spring of 1961 to attend EN A School. Division Officer at the time was Ensign William F. Bass, USN, CO was CDR O. Hibler, USN I Retired from the Navy after 29 years in 1988 as a Commander. The Soley was my first ship and most memorable.
