Years Served: 61-63…Reported to ship in Norfolk, EMFN, in A&O shop. shakedown cruises to Gitmo, then the trip around the Horn to SD. several west-pac cruises. transfered to V-2 Division Cat’s & AG. Yards in SF. lot’s of good times. :) look forward to the De-Commissioning. Hope it’s not while I am in Alaska for six weeks on a motorcycle trip 8)

Years Served: 3…Served on board the mighty Hawk from 1977-1980. These are some of the finest times of my life. The experiences I had were awesome, as well as the friends that I made. I will never forget my 2 Westpac cruises and all of those roudy ports of call, the PI in parrticular. Well shipmates I had better get underway and say goodbye. Years Served: 1976 to1979…Served onboard the Kitty Hawk from 1976-1979, in S-1 and S-8 Supply Divisions. Made 2 Westpac Tours. Had some of the greatest times of my life and some not so good times. Met some of the finest people onboard and try to keep in contact with all of them. PRESS ON

Years Served: 1977…Spenny, I wrote you at the emails address listed but it was a dead end. Get in touch, dude I was in the Public Affairs Office (PAO) aboard Kitty hawk in Bremberton Washington, 1977, while it is in the yards preparing for a Westpac cruise. I remember LTJG Welch, Chief Valesco, Duncan, John Bintliff, Fountain, and more……..was editor of Kitty Hawk Flyer.

Years Served: 1977/1981…Served aboard KittyHawk from 1978to 1981 Started out in A-Division in the Hydraulic Shop then A Division office then Transfered to X Division Captains office till I got out. Really enjoed it, also believe I know the Zip from that time period as well. Would do it again if I could.

Years Served: 1960-1963…I was a young black shoe junior officer and a plankowner.I served as the ship’s second legal officer and a fleet officer of the deck underway. It was a great time in my life.

PAUL CHEVALIER

Years Served: 1961-1962…Assigned to Kitty Hawk nucleus crew, Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, for completion of construction and outfitting. RM2 in OR Division. Enjoyed trial runs, trip to Norfolk, GTMO, South America and around the Horn and into San Francisco. Many fond memories of that assignment and the shipmates I had the pleasure of serving with.

Years Served: 1968-1970…Served aboard the Hawk July, 1968 to November 1970. I was assigned to V-2/Arresting Gear. Looking back it was some of the best times of my life, Subic Bay, Sasebo, Hong Kong (even if we didn’t get to stay long).

Years Served: 1972 – 1975…Photographers Mate in the ship’s photo lab. Had some not so good times (fire, riot), but a lot of real good times. Great memories from the ports we pulled into, especially PI, and great friends.

Years Served: 1973-1976…P-3 and P-4 division MM1. Westpack 1973-4 and 1974-5. MMR4 fire and MMR1 flood were most significant memories. Indian Ocean 9 month tour 1975. Shellback 1974. Any Shippies out there who would like to get in touch, please do.

Years Served: 1962-1965…I worked in A division in the Liquid oxygen plants located on the hanger deck. The people in A division were great. I would like to hear from anyone in A division, that can remember my handsome face.

Years Served: Bintliff…Ship’s newspaper editor from late ‘74 through Dec ’76. Remember MMR4 fire most, then shellback initiation, Russian Bear sightings and Softball team doubleheader at Baseball park at Pearl Harbor. Free beer, about a hundred or so in the stands. Played 2b, Marty Martinez played SS, Dan Gill at first and a guy named Cody (from GA) behind home plate. Also played in front of hundreds at Rizal Polo field against Singaporean national team while in port. Great memories, great shipmates. Remember the Kitty Hawk Flyer? I took most of the shots of the girls posted on the inside editor’s page. Also did a rock ’n roll shift on the radio and control work in the TV station. Remember com-shawing the sergeant-at-arms with a racy videotape in the control room with Jon Faber, Mike Duncan and Jeff Starkey. What a blast those years were! John Bintliff

Years Served: 1960-1964…Plankowner, went on board as an EMFN and left as EM2, spent most of my time in the Power Shop, biggest memories are the H bomb test, The U-2 test and muddying up Pearll when we left without tug help.
