I had the pleasure of riding Aspro for deployment in 1990, I remember how surprised I was when I got to the boat and found out CDR. Borchardt was the Commanding Officer. We were both on the USS Pollack SSN 603 back in 78’ he as a Junior Officer and me a 3rd class sonarman. Now here we were 12 years latter he was the Commanding Officer and I was his Senior Chief Acint Rider. To this day he is one of the best Commanding Officers I have ever served with. Great boat and crew. Oh and we had a kick ass trip.
Years Served: 1968 – 1972 USMC…Just wanted to say hello to all USS Aspro crew members. My brother was Captain of the Aspro John A Borchardt and he always told me the third proudest time of his life was taking command of the USS Aspro. The first two were the births of his two sons. Fair winds and trailing seas to all of you…
