Hello. My father, William (Bill) R. Thorn, served on the Currier from, I believe, from 1948-1952. He was a Bosun’s mate. He’s still kickin’ at 94 years old. He was doing pretty well until he went to the hospital for, basically, a head cold. They damn near killed him. In fact, they sent him home to die under hospice. He didn’t like that very much so he refused to die. His memory is kinda foggy now but he easily remembers his days aboard the Currier.
