Years Served: …My Father, Ralph Winstead, Sr. served aboard the Uss Otter in World War II. I was thrilled to see the ship he served on listed in the Navy Emporium. My Father died in 1975, and there is not a day that goes by that I do not miss him. He was a terrific Father and I am proud of his service to our Country.
My Dad Frank “Muscles” McCarthy served on the USS Otter during WWII. He was on a 40mm Anti Aircraft Gun. He served alongside Augustus “Gus” Cronin who was his Best Friend during his tour. He attended Several Reunions through the years. He was married to my Mom Hallie who had 4 children. He passed in Feb 2008 in Poplar Bluff Missouri. He passed on many stories to us kids.
