Served my final 9 months active aboard Her in 1980.

Served on the Mighty Mac from May of 1976- May of 1980. She was fast and maneuverable. Worked in the forward boiler room, great bunch of guys.

Years Served: 1955 – 1956…Served aboard the USS McKean DDR-784 as a Yeoman – sailed to Melbourne, Australia for the 1956 Olympics!!! Met a woman there, and we were married in 1977!!! We have been married for 31 years now…

Years Served: 1963…I served on the USS McKean DDR-784 as a radioman. We sailed on a short cruise to the Phillipines, Hong Kong and Japan. We made a quick trip to Alaska escorting a carrier back to the USA. Hello to anyone who served on the McKean during 1963 under Captain Clark. A good ship, good officers and good crew.

Served on USS Mckean 69 and 70 during our west pac trip april 70 thru sept 70. Was BM3 during that time. When we returned to Long Beach and went into drydock, I made BM2 and got orders to riverboats in nam. I remember a few of crew. Bm1 Johnson, Bm1 Wheeler

I served on the Mighty Mac from August 1970 to April 1972. I went on one WestPac from September 1971 to April 1972. We spent time at the normal sailor stops, as well as Yankee Station and the Arabian Sea during the India-Pakistan War of 1971.
