Years served aboard 1969-1973, MM2, FWD & AFT Engine rooms, I was on the decommissioning crew (a heart wrenching experience), then was assigned to the USS America (CVA66) until my discharge in 1974. Hired into the Postal Service as a Clerk in 1975 & retired in 2013. Steven Jowers, I remember you. Good Times & Good Memories. Thank You USS Henley (DD-762)

I went aboard the Henley in Boston in 1963. Departed Tampa with temp 98 and landed in Boston with snow on the ground. Served over a year as a ST and then departed for sub school in Groton, Conn.. I was assigned to the Picuda out of Key West. After 6 months, I was asked to ship over for nuclear power and was transferred to the USS Furse out of Norfolk. Served with honor until October of 1966.
