Served aboard 67-69. Came aboard as ETNSN departed as leading ET. I remember others in the ET shack Carl Morello, Charles Rollbush, Richard Belton. Spent little time aboard as I lived in Brookline and commuted to the ship, and always managed to get a standby.

Years Served: 1967…:) I came on the Compton from the uss springfield clg7 in January of 1967. It was a real shock coming from a flag ship to a reserve trainer. I was a QM3 i had a great time and met a bunch of great friends. I got out of the Navy in September of the same year. I would be happy to hear from any old ship mates.
Years Served: 1967-1969…I served under Ralph Garza and was in charge of the Boatswain’s locker. Also was a leading seaman with my own duty section.
Years Served: Late 1962 to August 1964…I came aboard in December 1962. As with all destroyers, we were at sea a lot. We left for the Med in June of `64. I got out out during the Med cruise. I enjoyed my time on the ship. After getting out I came back to Oklahoma and have been here since. I went to my first reunion this year in Branson, Mo. I plan on being at the next one. SK3

Years Served: 1966-1970…I spent my entire 4 year tour of duty on board the Compton, I would like to hear from anybody who served during my time on board.
Years Served: 1949-1951…Served two years (1949-1951) aboard. We took reservists on two week training cruises out of New Orleans to the Carribean. Made the Med cruise. Wonder if any one remembers when we were rammed by the Uss Gainard while tying up in Newport
Years Served: 4..3 aboard Compton…Boarded Compton directly from FT school in Bainbridge, MD in 1959 as a Seaman. Mustered out as FT2 in late 1962 after 2-3 Med cruises…yard refit…Gitmo shake-out; Caribbean cruises. Great experience.
Years Served: 1953-57…From 53-57 I grew from a boy to a man. Some special people helped. Warrant Officer Krycelic who taught me to navigate by the stars….Johny Johnson, from South Phily, who beat me up daily for 4 solid months untill we both boxed for the fleet….Ike Isaacs who was my immediate boss and taught me the vaue of $1.00, the hard way. 2 Med cruises, Red Sea duty, Shellback and rounded Capetown. Are any of you turkeys still around?
Years Served: 1967…Only served 6-8 months aboard, but made many friends. I remember most; the Mad Russian, the Hillbilly Ranch and Reviere Beach ( boy, has that place changed ), and of course my crew- Goodman and Murphy. I am now a retired Fire Lieutenant, from the Allentown, PA., Fire Department. :) :)
