Went aboard as an RDSN in 1967. Was a shipmate of Gary Brudelie who commented above. Made the WESTPAC cruise in 68. Would love to here from him. Left the ship an RD3 and was transferred to the DDG 17 USS Conyngham where I left an RD2 in 1970.
Yes, I remember you Don Ezell. I was on 71 to 72, also forward engine room. I still have the Harmony acoustic guitar that I bought from you. We used to play in the electricians shop off of the berthing compartment. I ran into Nick Perich a few years ago. He’s doing OK. I had a good time on that ship, really sorry to see it go.
Served on board uss borie from 1966 to 1968. Took North Atlantic cruise.
I served on the Borie between 1970-1972. Best. Boat. Ever. I had a lot of fun on the Borie in the electric dept with John Hollingsworth , weird Harold Puckett and Mikey. Milborn.

My dad, Jim Connelly (Chicago) was aboard 1959 – ? He passed in 2004 of a “service contracted” disease – ALS. Came across this canvas painting of his Mediterranean Cruise with all of the ports of call, and thought some might like to see. Email me if so.
Does any one remember the dates of the west PAC cruise ?
I served on borie 1969-1971. Great memories 🇺🇸🤙

Edgar Robertson, deceased. My father served on the Borie in 1943, when it was attacked on Nov. 1, 1943. He passed away in 1991. His rank was CM2c.
1962-1964 I was aboard the Borie during the Cuban blockade as described by Roger Gotcher. Roger and I enlisted in the USNR while in high school and were sent to the Borie as our first duty station. I reenlisted while aboard in order to go to class A school for Hospital Corpsman. I was in Vietnam 67-68 as a FMF corpsman and heard later that the Borie was off the coast of Vietnam during this time period, small world.
I caught up with Borie in Rota in 1967 as a new recruit. I was assigned in the officers’ wardroom. Made Carribean cruise and Vietnam campaign in Feb – Nov 1968. Borie was my home away from home!
served Feb. 1955 to July 1957 attended two res-unions 2013 and 2014. Loved being a TIN CAN SAILOR,
I served onboard from 9/69 to 5/1970 then transferred to fleet reserve (F6) for another ten years subject to recall if needed due to my TS crypto clearance and other qualifications however I was never recalled for active duty…I am now 88 and living a lonely but peaceful life.
I served aboard the USS BORIE from August 1966 to February 1968 as Leading Radioman (RM1) retired from the U.S. NAVY IN January 1979 as a Network Control Tech after tours in Hawaii on COMDESFLOT 5 staff, USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63), and retiring from NAVAL COMMUNICATION STATION, STOCKTON, CA

Hi, I was on the Borie from 1970-1972. Do any of you remember me? I worked in the Forward Engine room and me and Harold Puckett and George Bostick Played our electric guitars a lot. Do any of you remember David Tucker? He was from Lynchburg, Va. and ran the company store. I would love to know where he is.
Some names i recall from Borie during May 58 to Dec 60 was Lt A A Strunk, Ltjg Wellehan, RD2 Arvene J Henderson, RD1 Bud Garner (later went LDO), GM3 Eckmyre, RD3 Ed Barbeau, RD3 Free, and a kid from Alaska, first name Doug, worked in machine shop, SM3 Stanley (wife Jetta), Stanley became an officer in Nuclear subs. Hope some of them see this message and we can communicate also hope it will secure some more names for the crews list. I would be happy to hear from any of them.
