A fighting ship-great memories
Years Served: 25 months…The Melvin had a great war record. I don’t think it has been given enough recognition for its accomplishments.
Years served: my father was a Plank owner/ first crew member till wars end, S1C Claudy Lee Michaels. I was blessed to have him as a father. Very proud of him and the men of that served with him. The called it the greatest generation, I understand why. He lived to be 90. Not many of that crew left now but they will always be remembered. That was a historical time and we should always remember them with reverence. May God bless the men who served.
