Years Served: 1 or 2 months in 1963 or thereabouts…:D Was serving as a Reserve SA out of Philadelphia to North Atlantic, mostly into Halifax, NS.
Years Served: 1961 – 1962…I held a rating of BT3, but served as Log Room Yeoman while aboard.. Berthed in the aft engineering quarters. I have never met another McNair (DD-679) Sailer since… But I guess they are out there.

Years Served: 1 1/2 yrs.…I wa in charge of the Sonar team while aboard ship. Wondering if John Kuhlman or Danny Maringello are still around
Years Served: 1955 to 1959…I have found two of my shipmates. I attended the McNair’s reunion in Norfolk last year. It was great to see some of the guys again.
There was a Bruce Campbell assigned to the Engineering Section as an M/R.
It was between 1955 – 1957, I believe that he got discharged, but reenlisted and retired as a CPO.
Looking for help.Would like to know if Robert Sanborn became a shellback from 1955 – 1958.A group of friends and family are going to honor him.Any information would be a big help. Thanks Tom Ballard
My father, James (Sonny) Wiley Baker served aboard the USS McNair. He enlisted in the Navy on 2/17/44. If you have any information that you would care to share with me concerning his service I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
My grandfathers name is Doug Campbell and he served on the uss McNair. I’m not sure of exact dates but it was the late 50s. If anyone remembers him please contact me
