Served aboard the “Top Gun” during Desert Shied/Desert Storm with VAW-116 and AirWing 2, sad they broke her up for just a buck, was hoping she would have become a museum.

John "Sal" Saldana

My brother Rick Teichert was one of the six crewmen that lost their life on the 1st of November 1983.

I served aboard the Ranger in V1 Div. From December 1982 to 1985 just after the return to SanDiego from Bremerton. I was the only SK in the air department. Reported aboard as an airman but due my fear of water I needed a job inside the flight deck was not for me. I completed the courses and made SK 3 then SK2 was transferred to NAS NEW ORLEANS where I completed my 2nd ture then it was time for more sea duty. I could not have that did I mention my fear of water. Look me up in Louisiana south of I 10.

Micky Guilbeaux

I served aboard the greatest ship in the fleet July 69 – Sept 1970. Made on Westpac cruise in S6 division. Retired now but still love my USN days.

Tim Hilton

I served on the Ranger from 1985 – 1986
in the Engineering department of “A” Gang. Lots of good memeries with a lot of good dedicated men , 4 of which I stay in contact with. It was a good time in my life where I met a variety of people and discovered foreign lands. No regrets whatsoever. After my journey I moved back to my home state of Ohio. I will always cherish my time while in the Navy and very honored to serve aboard the USS RANGER CV – 61.

My father Gregory Eugene Kaiser served aboard the USS ranger from 1977-1980 as an operation specialist. I’m just looking to see if any of his ship mates remember him. Maybe you can tell me some stories about him.

I served on the Ranger from 73 to 74 as a photomate. Lots of good memories and a few not so good. Looking for others who knew me. I did a westpac but left the ship before the cruise was over. Would really like to hear from anyone, but especially from photomates, sickbay personal. or V-3 division(I was accidentally assigned to V-3 when I first got onboard, but made a few friends there). Hill was the Captain. I do remember Larry Zimmerman, John Schealter, Frenchie, Wayne Dorn, Ted Yee, Murphy, Uncle Bill (He died when the helicopter he was in was accidently shot down. We lost 2 photomates in that accident) just to name a few. I stood 6’1’, weighed 200 lbs and had red hair. The biggest thing that happened on this westpac was President Nixon resigned and we had to return to Yankee Station instead of going to Australia.
. Please email me at cberrypickle@aol.com or call me at (817) 613-6124.
Hope to hear from my former shipmates soon

Scott Ackert, I was with you in Va 192. I still have an article that was written in the Lemoore Base paper about those of us who received some kind of an award due to our actions during the fire.. It has a picture of all of us holding a fire hose. I could send you a copy if you’d like. Just send me an email.

Served 67 – 69
V-4 Division , flight and hanger decks. Two great Westpac cruises with fond memories of friendships made and liberties ashore. Trying to organize a website that would allow division shipmates to share photos taken during their service aboard. It’d be nice to hear from anyone from V-4 for that purpose, or just to reconnect.
