Years Served: 1962 – 1965…Hello all !
Years Served: 1963-1966 V-1 Division Fly 3 YellowShirt…Some of the best times of my life, oh how I miss that era; Hong Kong, Olongapo, Manila, Sasebo,Yokusoka…Hi to all

Years Served: 1967…Hello all from California. I fought the Vietnam war on board the Hannah while working in the Spud Locker. I haven’t looked at potatoe’s or tomato’s quite the same. LOL Anyway, it was an experience of a lifetime. I was then transfered to the line crew of VA-93, A-4 Skyhawk plane captain. We sure could have used some air condidioning.
Years Served: 1961-1981…I am pleased that we continue to celebrate the Hancock.
Years Served: 1971 – 1974…G’day to you all! Hard to believe that it’s been 33 years since I last walked down the gangway, off to Portsmouth and Gas School, then on to Rota, Spain. Eva and I are still married, have three children and seven grandchildren. Live in Lakeland, FL. Been working for insurance companies inspecting boilers since my EAOS in July 1980.
Years Served: …8 Burning 4 Turning 30 knots and no smoke! Dave Homan 2 Fireroom
Years Served: 1965-1966 Vietnam…Was in VA-216 Attack Squadron Black Diamonds, Skyhawks. Commanding Officer was Commander C. Birdwell, Jr. (Tex). My division officer was Paul Galanti. Would love to hear from any other VA 216 shipmates.
Years Served: 1970-1974…Still remember the years served aboard Hannah as if they were yesterday. Being my first ship I still remember it clearly all the good times and the long hours on the flight deck during flight ops off of the coast of Vietnam. From our trip to Sydney to the long awaited going under the Golden Gate bridge after almost a year on deployment.
Years Served: …Now living in Dallas, TX
Years Served: 1968…I was attached to the S-6 div. Came from the BIG E, spent about 6 months aboard, then joined civilian life in late May of ’68. May God bless you and your families. GO NAVY !!!!!!
Years Served: 1968-1970…Now that my own son is in the Navy..I’m re-living my days on the Hancock. I served aboard the Hanna from 1968-1970. Anyone from V-1, I’d love to hear from you. I’ll never forget all the great times on board # 19.
Years Served: 1960-61…Hello to all contact me at BKTWA@yahoo.com
Years Served: 1971 – 1973…I was in VA-164 and VA212. I was in the Avonics shop and on Check Crew in the PI. I have a lot of good memories about those times and hope to hear from some of my old shipmates. I got my e-mail address because I transfered to the Army after my tour of duty with the Navy and received my commission in the Army Reserve. I was an AT-3 on the Hancock.
Years Served: 64-65; 65-66…Went aboard one evening, next morning we sailed out under Golden Gate. I asked guy next to me standing flight deck parade where we headed? South East Asia I was eighteen and didn’t know where South East Asia was, sounded cool at the time! 2 tours in Vietnam and I knew exactly where it was but would not trade the experience for anything. I still like to live by: Can do, do now. Thanks for the memories and I am proud to be one of Fighting Hanna’s crew. I’m a VA215 Barnowl. Hoot, Hoot.
Years Served: …My father in law was aboard the USS Hancock CV-19. He passed away three years this February. I was looking a while back for people that may have known him or perhaps knew more information on the vessel.
Years Served: 1965-1967…Served aboard 2 West Pac cruises in OE Division as Electronics Tech. Anyone who hasn’t done so should check into the Hancock web page. There is information reference ship reunions etc. There will be a reunion in 2008 in California. They are great fun and you reunite with lots of old shipmates!
I served on the Hannah and was part of the decommissioning crew. Enjoyed my time on the Fighting Hanna
I was on board 1958 when a fire broke out because an AD7 broke loose on the cat and the prop hit the deck and caught fire. Two men were on fire and jumped overboard and were never found. This was late at night and when were told to leave our compartment that was filled with smoke we all went to the hangar deck thinking we might need to abounded ship. At that time I was a Plane Captain in VA153 the Blue Tail flies A4D1 142156
Was on the 1972 west pac was in VF-211. Was AE3. Any checker tails, still out there.
