Years Served: 4 years 1970 to 1974…I,Seedy Gonzalez severed the 1st 3 mon. in 1st div. and manned t-2 sending up powdercases to the next level.Then when to mess cooking in the bake shop for 3 mon favorite cake was the pine apple upside down cake. then went to quarter master school to be a tailor on board ship and I did that for one full year and enjoyed it very much!! The on the the old soda fountain store,which was fun.then on to the clothing store.and my last year in 74 I got to run THE SHIP STORE!!!!!!!!!that was my job ever!! when I got out I made a memorial for our Fallen Shipmates it’s called CA-148 MEMORIAL USS NEWPORT NEWS I take our Fallen Shipmates every where on all Military events and keep the memory alive. my phone is 1-512-351-1137 and adress is 12609 Dessau Rd.414 Austin,Tx. 78754 hope to hear from you!!!!! :D

Years Served: 1963-1964…I’m currently living in Palmetto, FL, just south of Tampa. It would be great to hear from some of my shipmates. I worked for a short while in 4th Division, OI Division and finally in 2nd Division Turret Three. It was a great experience with great people.

Years Served: 1965 to 1966…I just went to my first reunion in Charlston SC 2007 for the USS NEWPORT NEWS CA 148. You can bet I’ll be at the next one. Worked in engine room with Vallencourt MM2 I left the navy in Dec of 1966 as a MM3. Live in Montross Va on the Potomac river. Many memories I will always remember.

Years Served: CA-148 1956/57 D & H DIV. In USN ‘48 TO ’73…Stopped in Charleston at our last reunion. Looked like a great reunion. Unfortunately, emergency medical situation in family prevented our staying for dinner. Looking forward to hearing from shipmates..During 1q956/57, I was Treasurer of first class mess & was with the D & H Divisions. I was high lined back & forth to the USS Salem. CO was Capt. W. Post, USN. Rec’d notice of my MSC commission and was helio’ed off to the USS Roosevelt. Looking forward to possibily hearing from shipmates. Larry Bowdren DT1
